Erin Trimmer, M.S.W., believes that an advising relationship is built on trust and mutual respect, with a focus on self-advocacy and empowerment. As a double alumna of Virginia Commonwealth University, Erin navigated the university experience as a non-traditional student and is committed to ensuring that every student has the support and resources they need to succeed in the School of Social Work. She loves the research process and using data to explore potential opportunities for increased student support and engagement.
Before joining the Office of Student Success, Erin was an advocate for housing justice in Richmond, working with both local and state-level policy. She worked as a legislative aide to Delegate Rae Cousins during the 2026 Virginia General Assembly legislative session and thinks legislative spaces would function so much better with more social workers in policy roles.
Erin lives in Chesterfield with her partner, their child and two spoiled bulldogs. A longtime Richmond-area resident, she loves going to soccer games at City Stadium and is on a quest to find the best pastries in Richmond – current favorites are Jane Dough, Petit Four and Le Petit Morceau.
